Clinical Training and Practice

Julia is currently a pre-doctoral intern in neuropsychology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City where she will continue on as a Postdoctoral Resident in Clinical Neuropsychology. She has also completed pre-doctoral practicum placements within the Clinical Psychology PhD program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has had advanced education in neuropsychological assessment and theory, neuroanatomy, psychometrics, research design, and psychological diagnosis and intervention. Her clinical training to date has included experience with neuropsychological assessment and feedback, evidence-based psychotherapy, and psychoeducational assessment. Rotations included the following types of clinical sites: academic medical center, community mental health, private practice, outpatient neurology clinic, and medical specialty clinic.

University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Neuropsychology Division is an outpatient multidisciplinary neuropsychology clinic located within the OU Health hospital system in Oklahoma City, OK. The clinic provides comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation for individuals with cognitive disorders with a broad referral base from neurology, psychiatry, oncology, genetics, etc.

Rotations included:

  • Neuropsychology Major rotation, 12 months (Supervisors: Jim Scott, Ph.D., ABPP, Daniel Heyanka, Ph.D., ABPP, Christopher Copeland, Ph.D., John Linck, Ph.D., ABPP)

  • Pediatric Neuropsychology Minor rotation, 4 months (Supervisor: Jessica Holster, Ph.D.)

  • Geropsychology Minor rotation at the Oklahoma City VA, 4 months (Supervisor: Kristen Sorocco, Ph.D.)

Las Vegas Neurology Center

The Las Vegas Neurology Center is an outpatient multidisciplinary neurology clinic located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The clinic provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for individuals with cognitive disorders including stroke and neurodegenerative disease.

Practicum duties included: comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of adult and older adult populations. Differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases as well as movement disorders was provided. (Supervisors – Denise LaBelle, Ph.D. & Davor Zink, Ph.D.)


Cleveland Clinic:
Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health

The Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health is a multidisciplinary specialty clinic located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health provides a complete continuum of world-class care for individuals with cognitive disorders, movement disorders, and multiple sclerosis.


Practicum duties included: comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of adult and older adult populations. Differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases as well as movement disorders was provided. (Supervisors – Jessica Caldwell, Ph.D., ABPP-CN & Justin B. Miller, Ph.D., ABPP-CN)


Center for Applied Neuroscience

The Center for Applied Neuroscience is a group of independent, formally trained neuropsychologists who specialize in assessment of cognitive functioning. Neuropsychological assessment services are provided to a diverse group of patients across the lifespan.

Practicum duties included: comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of a diverse selection of children, adult, and older adult patients. (Supervisors – Thomas Kinsora, Ph.D. & Sharon Jones-Forrester, Ph.D.)


The PRACTICE:
A Community Mental Health Center

The PRACTICE is a UNLV community mental health training clinic with integrated mental health training opportunities.

Practicum duties included: providing evidence-based assessment and psychotherapy services for adults from the Las Vegas community. Experience with office management, client scheduling interaction, and billing included. (Supervisors – Kristen Culbert, Ph.D. & Stephen Benning, Ph.D.)
